People charged with any violation of state laws from fishing, driving, drugs, fraud or a crime of violence will need a surety bond for their release from custody. These bonds carry a premium of 8% to 10 % of the penal amount.
Federal Bonds
These bonds are used when a person is accused of a federal crime. Federal bonds are usually more expensive then state surety bonds and usually require property to be placed up with the federal government. These bonds carry a premium of 12% of the penal amount.
Immigration Bonds
These bonds are required for anyone that has entered the country without permission and violated the federal immigration laws. These bonds carry a premium of 20% of the penal amount.
Cash Bonds
Some people choose to simply choose to pay cash for their bail, but this can use up important money that could otherwise be used for someone's defense. Cash is usually returned minus any fines and court costs that are imposed.
Property Bonds
In most jurisdictions the courts allow for real property to be used for bail. The property often must be for twice the value of the imposed bail, and involves many complicated and time consuming procedures.
